THE PROBLEM WITH THE BIG NUMBER

Your bank balance isn't your spending money.

That balance does not know rent is due next week, a €300 repair is coming, groceries still need buying, or payday is 14 days away.

Pace turns the raw number into something you can use today.

Your bank says€2,846.00Pace says€42.60 / day

HOW PACE WORKS

The number behind the calm.

Pace models what is still ahead of you, not just what has already happened.

01Actual balance€2,846.00

Reconciled today

02Bills still due€1,290.00

Rent, utilities, subscriptions

03One-time expense€300.00

Laptop repair on 18 Aug

04Envelope needs€659.60

Flexible spending until payday

05Days to salary14 days

Next €2,800 income on 27 Aug

Your safe daily Pace€42.60 / day

€596.40 of spendable runway

A conceptual example using one fictional month. Pace's actual forecast also follows dates, paid and received states, reconciliations, and month boundaries.

THE MONTHLY PLAN

Plan the month.
Pace the day.

The plan describes your reality. Your daily Pace tells you what that reality means right now.

01 / ENVELOPES

Give your flexible money somewhere to go.

Use an envelope-based approach for the categories that suit you — groceries, dining out, travel, saving goals, or anything else — without forcing every month into the same shape.

  • Allocated, spent, and remaining at a glance
  • Positive or negative rollover between months
  • Search, adjust, and project each envelope

02 / INCOME

Recurring or just this once.

Set the normal rhythm for salary or a retainer, then add refunds, gifts, bonuses, or sales only to the month where they happen.

  • Adjust a generated payment without changing the rhythm
  • Record expected and actual amounts
  • Move dates and mark individual income as received

03 / EXPENSES

Some bills repeat. Life doesn't.

Keep rent and utilities predictable. Give a repair, trip, ticket, or exceptional purchase its own due date and amount — in this month only.

  • Fixed costs remain separate from flexible spending
  • Month-only expenses never repeat by accident
  • Planned and actual amounts feed your daily Pace

BUILT AROUND REAL LIFE

Not every month behaves.

Salary repeats. Rent repeats. But life doesn't. Keep the predictable things predictable, add the exception once, and let Pace recalculate around what actually happened.

AUG 18Your laptop dies.

Add a €300 one-time repair. It affects August, not September.

AUG 19A refund lands.

Add it once and move the date if it arrives later than expected.

AUG 27Salary shifts by a day.

Adjust this occurrence. Your normal monthly rhythm stays intact.

A CALMER WAY TO LOOK AHEAD

Depth where it helps.
One number when it matters.

01

One number for today

See what you can safely spend before the next income, after Pace accounts for what is still ahead.

02

Envelopes that roll forward

Underspend or overspend and the difference follows you into the next month — positive or negative.

03

Recurring, without the rigidity

Set the usual income rhythm once, then adjust an individual payment when the date or amount changes.

04

Plan the unexpected

Make room for a repair, trip, ticket, or exceptional purchase without pretending it repeats every month.

05

Match reality anytime

Reconcile against your real bank balance and forecast forward without counting earlier activity twice.

06

Know where the month is heading

Follow envelope projections, upcoming cash flow, and projected closing cash before the month gets there.

PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE

Your finances are nobody else's business.

Pace has no account, bank credentials, cloud finance database, advertising, or analytics inside the desktop app. Your plan lives in a local SQLite database and works offline.

✓Complete portable backupsExport and restore a versioned copy of every month.✓No financial profilingNo transaction data is collected or sold.✓Local ownershipYour budget does not depend on a Pace cloud service.
The only thing Pace automatically asks the internet:“Is there a newer version of Pace?”

The anonymous check goes to GitHub Releases. No financial data is included.

WHY PACE EXISTS

Built to be used,
then worth sharing.

I originally started Pace because I wanted to explore Go and build something I'd actually use. I didn't want another financial account, another subscription, or another company sitting between me and my own numbers.

Eventually I noticed I was opening Pace every week. At that point, it felt worth sharing.

WHAT'S NEW IN PACE

made more personal.

DOWNLOAD THE LATEST PUBLIC RELEASE

Start moving at
your own pace.

Free to download and use. No account, bank connection, or subscription.

Independently distributed

The installers are not yet platform code-signed, so macOS or Windows may ask for confirmation the first time you open Pace.

Published with checksums

Every public installer includes a SHA-256 checksum. Pace verifies that checksum before opening an installer downloaded through an in-app update.

Always the public release

These buttons resolve through the existing latest-release system, so the site never advertises an unpublished build.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

The useful bits.

The short version: your plan stays yours, even if you stop using Pace.

Is Pace really free?+

Yes. Pace is free to download and use on macOS and Windows. There is no subscription or paid account.

Does Pace connect to my bank?+

No. You enter and reconcile your real balance yourself, so Pace never needs your bank credentials or automatic transaction access.

Where is my data stored?+

In a local SQLite database on your computer. Pace has no cloud finance database and works offline.

Why might my computer show a security warning?+

Pace is independently distributed and the installers are not yet platform code-signed. macOS or Windows may therefore ask you to confirm the first launch. The macOS download page explains the safe installation steps.

How does Pace update?+

Pace anonymously checks the public GitHub Releases repository when it opens. If you choose to update, it downloads the installer and verifies its published SHA-256 checksum before opening it.

Can I back up my data?+

Yes. You can export a complete, versioned JSON backup of every month and restore it later. Restores are validated before replacing current data.

What happens if Pace disappears tomorrow?+

Your financial data already lives on your device, and Pace supports complete portable backups. Your budget does not depend on Pace operating a cloud service.
